Música con Encanto, classical music in Marbella

Argentinean pianist, María Testa, founded the Centro de Divulgación Musical del Mediterráneo (Centre for the Dissemination of Mediterranean Music) in 2004, aiming to introduce and educate people on the Costa del Sol about the delights of classical music. Testa worked hard to develop and promote projects, activities and performances through the centre, gradually increasing awareness and appreciation for classical music in the Marbella area. More recently the centre has begun to work with children, instilling in them a love of classical music from an early age.

María has developed a series of concerts called Música con Encanto (Music with Charm) featuring national and international musicians and artists at venues around Marbella. The concerts attract loyal audiences comprising people of all ages and nationalities, and have grown in stature and popularity over time. Forthcoming performances in the Música con Encanto series include:

On Saturday 16th February the highly respected and award-winning Spanish pianist Carmen Yepes from Asturias will perform works by Schubert, Beethoven, Schumann and Chopin. Purported to be one of the leading pianists of her generation, Yepes lists amongst her achievements success in major national and international competitions such as the Petrof, Ricard Viñes, Infanta Cristina, Marisa Montiel and Albacete City concourses.

On Saturday 9th March, Natalie Kuchaeva and Jorge López who met while studying at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, will delight a Marbella audience with the second part of their revered concert for two pianos dedicated to Russian Romanticism. Kuchaeva and López, who have received international acclaim from critics in Spain, France, Switzerland and Russia, will be performing works by Tchaikowski and Rachmaninov.

Both concerts have been organised by the Centro de Divulgación Musical del Mediterráneo in conjunction with the Ayuntamiento de Marbella. Great Composers and Journey to Russia II will be performed in the Aula Universitaria, Hospital Real de la Misericordia in Marbella, starting at 8.30pm.
