These two stand-out developments are the byword in opulence and sophisticated living, and form the heart of this new coastal reference point. Named after the Sierra Bermeja mountain range that provides the area with its majestic backdrop, Cabo Bermejo was the first of the two complexes to be built. Its enormous popularity at the time led to architect Melvin Villarroël Roldán being asked to design Torre Bermeja in the early 2000s.
The location is second to none: the apartments are protected by the Sierra Bermeja behind and enjoy breathtaking views directly over the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and, on a clear day, even North Africa to the south. Just beside the beach, Restaurante Tikitano is a firm favourite with residents and visitors to the area, as well as an amazing venue for weddings and private parties.
This part of the New Golden Mile is dotted with superb restaurants, golf courses, shops and amenities, as well as the five-star Hotel Kempinski and Las Dunas Hotel. There’s even a wildlife park and equestrian school nearby. A few minutes to the west is Laguna Village, fast becoming one of the places to buy all your designer clothes, while enjoying a relaxing cocktail or meal. And if all that’s just not enough, then Estepona, Puerto Banús and Marbella centre are all within a five to fifteen minute drive, with Málaga and Gibraltar airports easily accessed within an hour.
The apartments themselves were cleverly and stylishly designed to maximise the natural sunlight and views of the Mediterranean. Andalusian in style, yet with a strong casbah inspiration, they incorporate windows shuttered with African teak wooden fret work, modern fully fitted kitchens, integrated air, sound and intruder alarm systems, under floor heating and sound insulation (walls and floors). Their luxurious bathrooms, complete with hydro spas, feature environmentally conscious water saving devices and have been finished in a high quality mix of Travertino, imperial and Portuguese marble. Throughout the apartments, cream marble floors, enhanced with brown marble mosaic borders ensure that any residents’ decorative preferences can be seamlessly integrated.
The communal areas outside provide tranquillity and calm with sub-tropical gardens and trickling water features surrounding the attractive infinity swimming pools. In front of Torre Bermeja and just alongside the beach promenade, a vast green area measuring 30,000m2 has been conserved and landscaped around the remains of a Roman estate that was first discovered when ground preparation for the apartments began. These were partly excavated and are on display for all to see, not far from the Arab Almenara Tower, which stands proudly in the centre.
All the apartments in Cabo Bermejo and Torre Bermeja have underground parking spaces and storerooms accessed by lift, plus 24-hour security (with CCTV), access to onsite spas and wifi internet.
These spectacular properties amazed investors when they were first launched with their richness of design, luxurious finish and state of the art extras. Perhaps more incredibly, they continue to wow today, more than ten years later. Those who bought at launch have received an impressive return on their investment, and despite the current economic climate properties here are still in demand. A fine example of true quality withstanding the test of time.
