In this, the second edition of the DM Properties Newsletter, we continue our premise of informing our readers about real estate and living, both in the Costa del Sol and in selected areas around the world.

International Alliances

DM Properties’ reputation as an established and well-respected agency in Marbella is reflected in the fact that it has been chosen by leading international property organisations such as Christie’s Great Estates www.christiesgreatestates.com the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World www.leadingre.com and their luxury programme www.luxuryportfolio.com as their representative for the region.

We have always welcomed such collaboration, and the synergies that come from working together with likeminded companies who share our principles and ethics. In establishing such international networks of respected firms, we hope not only to offer our clients quality service and peace of mind, but also aim to raise standards for the industry as a whole.

Such initiatives are not restricted to international organisations, however, as DM Properties has been committed to establishing a governing body of estate agents in southern Spain too. It is a founding member and driving force of the LPA (Leading Property Agents of Spain), an organisation with strict rules of admission and conduct that strives to provide a network of real estate professionals whose credentials are a guarantee of excellent service and integrity.

This month sees the launch of the inaugural LPA Magazine. For more information, visit www.dmproperties.com or www.lpaspain.com.

Coastal News

At the end of summer, the focus shifts from the coast inland, as temperatures become milder and the golden light and changing colours of the countryside beckon. The hinterland of the Costa del Sol, with its array of mountain ranges, rural regions, nature reserves and picturesque villages offers a wide range of possibilities.

If you ever wanted an excuse to try out true Spanish fare or sample the laid-back lifestyle of rural Andalucía, then the Ruta de la Tapa, organised by the town hall of Arcos de la Frontera, offers just the setting. During November, the pretty little tapas bars and traditional restaurants of this stunning white village situated an hour and a half north-west of Marbella provide a culinary route through the winding streets and alleyways of the scenic medieval town centre. Collect a scorecard at the tourist office and you will receive a glass of wine and tapa for €2 per establishment. Those who collect eight stamps may have to spend the night in one of Arcos’ pretty boutique hotels, but they will be rewarded with a complimentary gift pack of local wine. For more information call Tel: (+34) 956 704 131.

Also popular at this time of year are the wine harvest festivals that occur throughout the region’s villages and country towns – some of whose fountains even run with wine during the festivities. If you really want to get away from it all, why not head into the Parque Los Alcornocales, situated roughly between Marbella and Cádiz, and watch the transformation from summer green to the golden hues of autumn?
