Sandon has opened its first interior design store in Marbella, offering a curated space that brings the brand’s philosophy into tangible focus. Located between Marbella and Puerto Banús on the famous Golden Mile, the new store presents a clear reflection of Sandon’s identity. Thoughtful, tactile and with a decidedly global influence, it offers a way of living that values craftsmanship, character and connection.

Founded by Norwegian siblings Synne and Sander Brendmoe, whose family built the renowned Antima brand from humble beginnings in Norway in 1929. Sandon has always been rooted in a shared vision of design that balances clarity with comfort. The store represents a natural evolution of their work. What began as a design studio has grown into a full sensory experience, brought to life through a space that invites exploration and engagement.

For Synne and Sander, this new store is the fulfilment of a long-held ambition. It is not an add-on to the brand but an essential next step. The store gives form to the values that have guided the Brendmoes and their team from the beginning.

A place to explore, not just to shop

The store invites people to slow down and discover. Furniture, antiques, accessories and materials are arranged in a way that feels organic. There is no set route, no hard sell, just a gentle invitation to explore. High ceilings, water features, fireplaces and natural textures help to create a quiet atmosphere. Outdoor areas add another layer, with Mediterranean light filtering through wooden shutters and local materials used throughout.

A Material Gallery allows clients to handle fabrics and finishes. There is a children’s corner that brings a family-friendly dimension to the space. Items are offered in limited quantities to reduce wastage with the collection updating regularly. Each piece carries its own story, often shaped by the team’s travels. Already this year, they have undertaken five sourcing trips, a selection that reflects the richness of those journeys.

“It’s personal, ever-changing and comes from our belief that design should be both beautiful and approachable,” says Synne.

Scandinavian clarity with a global view

The aesthetic is grounded in Scandinavian principles of quality and simplicity. Yet the vision is not defined by geography. Spanish furniture, Italian textiles, South African antiques and French objects d’art sit side by side. This diverse mix mirrors the cultural blend that defines Marbella itself.

The Sandon approach does not favour a single style or trend. Pieces are chosen for their integrity and ability to feel at home in varied environments. The Brendmoes focus on timelessness rather than novelty, building spaces that feel lived in and layered with meaning.

Sandon collaborates with artisans across Europe, producing items in partnership with makers who share their values. The results are characterful and intended to be enduring, becoming artefacts imbued with memories and meaning.

Personal service, rooted in process

Personalisation is central to the Sandon approach. The goal is to help clients create something that feels completely their own. The store complements the work of the Design Studio by offering a tactile, in-person starting point.

Visitors can browse samples, view finishes and receive support, with the team always delighted to offer advice. Interiors are understood to be personal and specific, while the service is measured and responsive.

“Our job is to help people shape spaces that feel truly theirs,” says Synne. “Whether it’s a whole home or a single detail.”

Sustainability through intention

Sandon takes a measured and responsible approach to sustainability. It starts with the decisions behind the collection. The team chooses long-lasting materials, works in small production runs and sources antiques that honour traditional craftsmanship. Many products are made by local or European makers using low-impact methods.

The Brendmoes approach sustainability through the lens of intentionality. Each product is selected for its quality and longevity, not its momentary appeal, working only with those who share its values of craftsmanship and care.

A welcome addition to Marbella’s design scene

The opening has been well-received by the local community. Many visitors already know Sandon through Forum, the lifestyle hub where it is one of the anchor locales. The connection between the two is strong. Forum is a platform for community and creativity and the store builds on that foundation.

Inspired by the creativity in the Forum, the store hosts design workshops and masterclasses, with more events planned. The aim is to offer not just products but experiences.

Lessons in flexibility

Opening the store has not been without challenges, however. One of the most difficult questions was how people would engage with the space. Would they come for furniture, decor or one-off finds? Striking the balance between beauty and practicality took time.

The team continues to learn by watching how clients use the space. Feedback is taken seriously. Adjustments are made quickly. The process is collaborative and Synne is delighted to note that the strength of the team has been central to the store’s success.

A store that feels like home

The highest praise Sandon receives is that the store feels like a home. Not a showroom, not a gallery, but a living space. That was always the intention. Not to impress from a distance but to welcome people in. The result is a location that offers more than design, but also atmosphere, connection and a sense of belonging.
