Marbella has long attracted a diverse variety of nationalities to its sandy shores, benefitting as it does from the micro-climate created by the Sierra Blanca mountain range, which frames the seaside town and bestows it with mild temperatures in the winter and wonderfully warm, long summers.

Marbella is a paradise for second homeowners

Such weather proves a great attraction to Northern Europeans tolerating winters with little sunshine to brighten their day. Owning a second home on Marbella happily provides the possibility of sunny winter breaks and long summer days on the beach. With 75% of property seekers in Marbella comprised of foreigners, it is no surprise to learn that the majority are Northern European. Of course, the weather is not the only attraction in this cosmopolitan Mediterranean town. A sound infrastructure, thriving gastronomic scene and an enviable choice of properties ensures a standard and quality of living that is hard to beat.

New build property enticing second homeowners

After years of slower growth, the Spanish property market soared last year, up 20% in the last three quarters of 2017. Further growth in availability of new build property on the Costa del Sol has seen second home ownership lead the way as one of the principal drivers of this flourishing sector. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the range and quality of such properties in this region, 76,8% of purchasers seek a newly built second home. It is also interesting to note that buyers typically benefit from one of the highest property budgets in Spain of €338,515, coming second only to the capital Madrid in terms of purchasing ability.
