Mediterranean haute couture
Like a fine work of priceless fashion, this exquisitely detailed villa stands out from serialised, off-the-peg properties to create a wonderful blend of modern Mediterranean style with a distinctive touch of Paris chic.
Enter the property and you realise that this is a home of detail and passion for style in which, for all its aesthetic appeal, form and function are well poised. In addition to this, the villa occupies an enviable location that is as panoramic as it is discreet and private. Automatic gates open to reveal a driveway that slopes gently down to a privileged position from which no neighbours are visible, just panoramic south-easterly views across a swathe of greenery down to the sea.
The large deck seems to float over the landscape, with an infinity pool whose drop-away edge lines up with the horizon shimmering blue in the distance. Matt anti-slip marble provides a soft cream touch that blends with the villa’s fresh white tonality and the blue-turquoise and white patterned sofas that form intimate lounging and relaxing areas. The entrance to the villa is paved with classic hand-cut Pedra Calçada stones and framed with Mediterranean trees, herbs and flowering plants.
“I was inspired by the setting, the light and the views,” says the owner, a professional interior designer who not only styled the home’s interior but was also the creative force behind its architectural design and layout. “I wanted a villa that reflects this location, blends modern and Mediterranean elements, and has an easy symmetry in which interconnected living spaces create an integrated flow between intimate, cosy rooms.”
Modern, Mediterranean and chic
The large entrance door is modern, an example of sleek contemporary lines that work in harmony with classically inspired details such as slanted Mediterranean rooflines that slope down to meet full-length panoramic windows. The latter bring in the inspiring views as you enter the villa and the beautifully decorated living room, with fireplace and vaulted ceiling topping a nine-metre height.
Natural light flows in from tall windows that offer intriguing views of garden details tastefully lit in the evenings. The spacious kitchen features sleek, top-of-the-range luxury combined with a cosy breakfast nook, a large dining table and an outdoor option, while on the opposite side of the property a large bedroom suite forms part of a subtle symmetry of layout and proportions. The upper floor bedrooms take the form of bright, spacious rooms with generous, latticed wardrobes that open up to elegant bathrooms with cream-toned Carrara marble. The main suite, with his and hers dressing rooms and a ‘floating’ terrace, forms the pinnacle of private luxury.
The family comes together in the entertainment areas on the lower floor, where natural light and Zen-styled greenery continue the sense of stylish warmth and comfort exuded by the home. Practical areas such as the laundry are discreetly integrated, with direct access to the kitchen, while the large garage and an area that can be transformed into a private spa or cinema, complete one of the most refined modern villas in the Los Flamingos area of Marbella.
