Just outside the hustle and bustle of Marbella, the old town of Estepona offers a unique option as an address. This town of 65,600 inhabitants nestled on the coast halfway between Marbella and the golf community of Sotogrande and 70km from Malaga airport, is a study in contrasts. The town centre retains the charm of Old Spain, while master-planned, upscale developments grow out of its east and west flanks.
Boaters will appreciate the marina at the western extreme of Estepona’s boardwalk and its proximity to both La Duquesa Port and Puerto Banus, just west and east respectively.
Only the best in accommodation will be found at the luxury five star resorts of Las Dunas, the Kempinski Resort Hotel or the Selenza Hotel & Spa. Here, vacationers have many options: Fine dining, ample nightlife and horseback riding are just some of Estepona’s many attractions. Moreover, golfers have a wide variety of choice with seven golf courses among which you can find Atalaya Golf & Country Club, El Paraiso Golf Club, or Estepona Golf. Most notable, however, is the Selwo Safari Park where hundreds of wild animals can be appreciated roaming free in a natural, yet controlled, setting of over 100 hectares of land. Additionally for horse riding lovers, Estepona boasts the ‘Equestrian Art School’ of the Costa de Sol which encourages horse riding, and hosts equestrian competitions and shows.
Estepona spans 21km of coastline along which developments such as Torre Bermeja, Cabo Bermejo, Doncella Beach, Los Granados Playa or Guadalmansa Playa can be found, and where there are established residential areas such as El Presidente, Casasola or El Paraiso, where there are few plots available. Other residential areas, are Los Flamingos (with beautiful villas and apartments in complexes such as Royal Flamingos, or Tee 5), or La Panera with possible further extension to the north and bordering the golf resort areas of Monte Mayor and Marbella Club Golf.
All along the 21km of coastline you can find shopping nuclei which means that there will always be services at short driving distance no matter where you live along the Estepona coast. Half the size of Marbella, and only 34km away, Estepona is a great alternative for those who are more keen on the lifestyle offered by a town but still want the services found in bigger cities.
